The research activities of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag) have been supported the SDC's Global Programme Water for over 15 years. An external evaluation was commissioned to assess the two research programmes that ran from 2015 to 2017 and 2018 to 2022. The assessment focused on three mains areas: 1) programme delivery, 2) collaboration with partners, and 3) research-to-policy-to-action impact.

The five-person Iwel team utilised contribution analysis as part of a theory-based approach and undertook data collection at the global and country level, with a specific focus on Nepal and Uganda. Findings and recommendations from the evaluation were presented back to both SDC and Eawag, and used to inform future action.
